wind portraits are generated when a photograph is taken, and
real-time nyc wind data is used to animate the pixels of that image. In an installation setting, a video camera is set up to capture the image of a person. Once the image is captured, data from the weather station in Central Park, NYC is used, and applied to the image, where a custom written software application processes the data and manipulates the pixels of the image. Eventually every simulated portrait disappears as the virtual wind, blows away the pixels. The programming languages used: Perl, Php, MySql, XML, Processing |
