"In 1993, ®TMark channeled $8000 from a military veterans' group to the Barbie Liberation Organization, which used the investment to switch the voiceboxes of three hundred BarbieTM and G.I. JoeTM dolls." The group actually bought the dolls, then queitly "replaced" them back on the store shelves in various cities. Electronic talking dolls were a new technology at the time.

This project interested me largely because of its "bang per buck," not to mention the utter mahem it produced. Nobody knew what was going on. For a while nobody took credit, and when the BLO did, it was as an anonymous group. The press lapped it up. For $8,000, the project had an enormous impact.
