Assignment 1a Template:
Visualizing Structure
Joan Soler Adillon
In a very basic level, this example shows a way to understand the relation between symbols and instances in flash. Here the
mere shape, that has no existance for itself in a physical level, would be the symbol. As we cut a pile of paper, we are working
in a shape that will be represented by each and every one of the instances. Each cut will equally effect every instance. Then, we
can place the instances repeatedly in the stage, in different locations. When we are composing, for example, a collage, we are
working as we do in flash's stage. Then, we finish the work and frame it, which would be the equivalent of running the program in
flash.

Though it was hard to pick one, I would say my favorite artist in the list is Jean-Pierre Hérbert.
There’s something fascinating in his work, in the harmony of the forms he creates. The ink drawings look as if they had a texture, since the use and repetition of patterns gives them a resemblance to fabrics.
I specially like the most recent works, the sand and annotated series, where I think that the less regularity in the pattern, the more interesting the resulting work is.
