Project Ideas
I have several varying ideas for the project. I have to narrow down which I think will work the best, but for now I will list them all.
1. Making a device that will assist with holding utensils for someone with a new disability that affects their dominant hand. This will enable the user to maintain a tripod grasp necessary to hold a writing utensil.
2. Over the years, I have worked w/ many artists, including painters and photographers. Some of these people are newly disabled and others have progressive diseases. I would like to come up with an adjustable easel for wheelchair users, adaptive ways to hold paintbrushes and use palletes (sp?). I would also like to try and adapt a digital camera for someone with imapirments in their hands.
3. Constructing an adaptive device for someone w/ a new disability to access a keyboard, for someone that wants to continue to use a traditional keyboard.
4. Looking at adapted methods for grooming tasks, including brushing teeth, oral hygiene, washing face, brushing and styling hair. Also, training and adaptations to functional environments.
