Stroke Review

Caused by:

Loss of blood flow to the brain for a period of time. Loss could be caused by obstruction (Ischemic stroke) or from a blood vessel burst (hemorrhage). With the loss of blood or flooding from hemorrhage to the brain's cells, neurons don't receive the needed nutrients and oxygen. Cells that are affected will release zinc molecules and these zinc ions are the main cause of brain cell death.

Affects body:

May cause paralysis, difficulty with speech, cognitive problems, and basic problems for living normally again. Severe strokes will put a body into a coma or death.

Treatment:

New procedures are being developed for the different strokes but still remain experimental. The best situation for a victim who has had a stroke is to get immediate medical attention where the type of stroke that occurred can be identified. After the immediate medical attention has been given patients must receive proper rehabilitation.
